# cross-review documentation

> cross-review adds review skills to Claude Code and Codex. A second model checks your agent's plans, code and reasoning, round by round, until it approves.

cross-review (npm package `@tlelabs/cross-review`) is a skill pack from TLE Labs for Claude Code and Codex, released under the MIT license. The agent you work with writes the plan and the code. A second model, the Codex CLI today, reviews them. The agent fixes or answers each finding, and the reviewer checks again, until it approves or the two sides reach a stalemate that you decide.

Install it with `npx @tlelabs/cross-review`.

## The two roles

- **Orchestrator.** The agent you talk to, Claude Code or Codex. It writes plans and code, runs the review skills, fixes the findings it accepts and answers the ones it disputes.
- **Reviewer.** A second model, started by the review skills in the background. It reads the plan or the diff, runs tests and commands to check its claims, and reports numbered issues with a verdict. It does not change project files.

Each review is a session. The first round is the reviewer’s first look. Each later round is the orchestrator’s reply and the reviewer’s check of it. [Core concepts](https://cross-review.tlelabs.com/docs/start/concepts/) explains the terms used across these pages.

## The six skills

Claude Code runs a skill as `/name`, for example `/review-impl`. Codex runs it as `$name`, for example `$review-impl`.

| Skill | Use it to | Page |
| ---------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| `loop-plan` | Write a phased, code-grounded plan for large work | [loop-plan](https://cross-review.tlelabs.com/docs/skills/loop-plan/) |
| `loop-implement` | Carry out an approved plan phase by phase, with checkpoint reviews | [loop-implement](https://cross-review.tlelabs.com/docs/skills/loop-implement/) |
| `review-plan` | Have the reviewer check a plan before you code | [review-plan](https://cross-review.tlelabs.com/docs/skills/review-plan/) |
| `review-impl` | Review uncommitted changes, unpushed commits or a branch before you commit, push or merge | [review-impl](https://cross-review.tlelabs.com/docs/skills/review-impl/) |
| `review-think` | Debate a technical question with the reviewer as a peer | [review-think](https://cross-review.tlelabs.com/docs/skills/review-think/) |
| `review-pr` | Review someone else’s pull request as a peer, without changing code | [review-pr](https://cross-review.tlelabs.com/docs/skills/review-pr/) |

`loop-plan` and `loop-implement` plan and carry out the work. The other four are reviews. The automatic review block can run `review-plan` and `review-impl` for you; see [Automatic reviews](https://cross-review.tlelabs.com/docs/guides/automatic-reviews/).

| ---------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `<repo>/.cross-review/sessions/` | One folder per review session: the rounds, the reviewer’s output and the final verdict |
| `<repo>/.cross-review/plans/` | Plans written by `loop-plan` |
| `<repo>/.cross-review/config.json` | Review settings for this workspace |
| `~/.cross-review/config.json` | Review settings for every workspace |
| `~/.claude/skills/` | Skills for Claude Code, and the shared runtime in `cross-review/` |
| `~/.agents/skills/` | Skills for Codex |
| `~/.local/bin/cross-review` | The command that runs the installed runner, for example `cross-review dashboard` |

The `.cross-review/` folder ignores itself in git. Plans stay out of git unless you turn on Plans in git.
